I have a group of six cars under my care, and some mornings, one lift will be sitting on a floor, relay IFR will be pulling in and out quickly, and either LG or HG will be energised, with the lift not moving, until I manually pull out either LG or HG. this only happens occaisionally....any ideas?

Justin, I am very familiar with VIP 260, cannot remember ever seeing a IFR relay, are you sure thats what it is? Jim

On this job, FR beats rythmically to flash the indicators on the ground floor whenever the lift is there.

there is also a huge indicator panel on the ground floor, which shows the position of all six lifts. When one of the lifts does as I have desscribed, relay IFR beats rythmically, and the floor position indicator flashes whatever floor the lift has stopped at.

This might just be job specific, but it seems that whenever the lift stops for any reason, IFR beats ryhtmically, flashing the indicator for whatever floor it's on.

Sounds like the flicker relay which operates when the system goes on nudging? Maybe a door reopenging device problem on the specific car? vpk

Justin, the FR relay is indeed the flicker relay. The next time you have a shutdown for what ever reason try and avoid pushing and pulling relays. There are some basics of trouble shooting this type of cont. first the elev must have a demand,HG,HJ,HJG,LG,LJ,LJG. The generator must be running, M relay in. The saftey circuit made,C,CX,CY. The doors must be closed and locked. Get your meter and the prints and track it down without breaking the problem up.Watch the cont. when the cars are running and look at the prints, try and learn something about the sequence of operation. What type of machines ,gen, selectors, door oper.does this job have. Does it have touch buttons? Nothing to do with your problem im just curious. Jim

Justin, What type of door reopening device(s) are furnished on the elevator car doors? "Balanced Bridge Detector", the previous version, "Cold Cathode Detector" or something more modern like Lambda or Pana 40. vpk

The door protection on this job is with a light curtain, called T.L made in New Zealand, a prro relative of Pana 40.

I found the problem......eventually.....

It was the brush motor, occaisionally, in the up direction, it was slightly binding in the gearing, and the armature current was a little low.
