Foolishness! [misc]]

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Hey guys! I've noticed for quite awhile that somebody is ALWAYS offering their .02 worth of advice. Ya'll might also notice that I have been offering my $2.00 worth of advice for quite some time too. How come the big difference? Surely my advice isn't worth a cent more than your .02 worth, is it? I know I'm a smart old dude besides bein purty, but if'n I'm that much smarter thenya'll can send me the remaining $1.98 left over. Does that make sense? I cain't pick up pop bottles anymore--they done away with'm. I cain't pick up coke cans either. Some old dude around here, on social security, has the market wrapped up and the highways all staked out. I'm too young for social security, too lazy to work and too purty to be like Muhammad Ali and fight fer a livin. Oh the perils of my own beauty! Well anyhow, time for a laff. Ya'll be good to each other and don't say things that hurts others. Anxiously awaiting spring and all the beauty of Gods Marvelous creation. hoot. Matt. 24:44

Okay, Hoot. I get it. I'm ALWAYS posting my $.02 here so I'll leave for a while. It must get tiresome to have to read my stuff. Sorry.

Sheepish! It wasn't my intentions to offend anybody with this foolishness. I was only trying to get the forum folks to get their minds off of hurting others. If anybody else was offended by this stupid post of mine--I'll retract it and apologize. Maybe it's time for ME to leave for a spell. Matt. 24:44

Hey, I'd miss you if you went away! I don't always have a response but I almost always read what you have to say. My husband asked me just the other night if you were still hanging out here. And he has only visited the forum a few times. You gave him some black powder advice once! He thinks your a cool!

-- Denise (jphammock@msn.com), January 09, 2001.

Granpa Hoot, you're wonderful. Always looking out for everyone. You really are a special fella.

-- Cathy in NY (hrnofplnty@yahoo.com), January 09, 2001.

I know there's a few folks out there who would love to not have to wade through my diatribes, but I just can't help myself!

I just wrote to Hoot, who is such an excellent human being. I got a little skittish because I spend so much time on here, and we have been sort of all cooped up and starting to bounce off the walls.

You see, I'm really supposed to be looking for a job (remember I just finished school.) I am online a lot, cruising job boards, polishing up the resume, and making contacts. Just to keep my sanity (perhaps at the expense of others) I have been spending time (way too much) here (around, get this... "normal" people! But it's true, in my mind...Countrysiders are the only normal people I know! Mostly...)

Only apologies needed here are from me for acting like a spoiled, whiney child, which I indulge myself in being from time to time. *sigh*

I love your posts!!!I always leave with a smile....But you know what they say about purty boys!!!!!!How does the song go--"if you want to be happy for the rest of your life--make an ugly woman your wife!"

Hey Hoot! I haven't been around here very long, but I had the impression that you were ancient. I had this picture in my mind of a 90 yr.old little ole man at the computer. Not old enuf for Social Security - well now I have a whole new impression. You're not really ancient at all! And you better not leave - your posts keep me laughing.

-- Dianne (willow@config.com), January 09, 2001.

Hoot, You better not leave, every night when I get on the forum, I look forward to seeing something from you. You make me laugh and make me think. But you do surprise me, I thought you were way past social security age, so I guess you never know. Keep up the good work. Roxanne

Sheepish---you live in the same neck of the woods I do--and the wet, gray , gloomy days are really starting to get to me--you too??? I keep hoping for the same kind of glorious spring we had last year! I always enjoy your posts--feel almost like you are my neighbor! Take care and stay warm! Lynn

-- Lynn Royal (homesteadmama1@aol.com), January 09, 2001.

Well! Since ya'll don't want me to go anywhere----let us talk about that $1.98! Just send it to me over heer at m'home. Address it to the "Purty Illinois hillbilly". And I suurdo thankee! I will be gone for a spell tho. As I said before -can't pick up popbottles, coke cans or take handouts. This weather is about to drive me up the wall too, Sheepish! Ole Jeep and I hafta go back to work after a few weeks rest. The wolf is knock'n at the door. Think I'll lett'm in! So-all you dudes quit fight'n fer a spell. It bothers this OLD man! Matt. 24:44

Sheepish and Hoot, I would hate to see either of you leave. I enjoy both of your posts. Hoot, you can't be that old! I'm probably older than you!!!! I have been a Christian since 1956 when I was a young teenager but I believe you have grown more than me in that walk. I always learn something from your posts. Sheepish, spring will come and believe me I am anxiously awaiting it too!!! Hope to see both of you on here real soon.

-- bwilliams (bjconthefarm@yahoo.com), January 10, 2001.

So who do we send the check to again?

Both of you have contributed way more than $2 worth to everything on here!! The only foolishness on this post is talk of anyone leaving. God bless you both!

-- Doreen (animalwaitress@excite.com), January 10, 2001.

Hey, hoot, that's not the way it works: you are paying us $2.00 to listen to what you have to say...Thats why I offer my opinion without offering to pay to do it....it is kinda like buying gas. You say "Give me $2 worth and you get $2 worth of gas...well, gas, hot air, opinions all kinda go together, you see? Some folks don't put much value in there opinions, but yours are "premium." ;-)

-- jimR (jymcyn@earthlink.net), January 10, 2001.

If y'all are going to argue over money, I'm leaving! LOL!!!! Remember, it's all our 2 cents worth (and other amounts) that adds up to the pure gold of the Countryside forum.

-- Soni (thomkilroy@hotmail.com), January 10, 2001.

I didn't realize that one could make $2. on every comment one had on this forum!! Sounds like a great idea, maybe I can make some omney foronce with this idea. HA HA I do agree that it should be called $2 worth, cost of inflation you know. You guys are great. Keeps me on stitches all the time!! HA HA
