15 die in Pakistan train crash

KARACHI, Pakistan (January 9, 2001 12:42 a.m. EST http://www.nandotimes.com) - A passenger train derailed in southern Pakistan on Tuesday, killing at least 15 people and injuring more than 200, ambulance workers said.

The Kushal Khan Express was heading to the southern port city of Karachi from the northern border city of Peshawar. At least six railway cars derailed near Kotri, 78 miles from its destination, they said.

The cause of the accident was not immediately known. Railway authorities said they have begun an inquiry.
