ati aiw & win98 -> audio recorded, with win2000 -> no audio recorded

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

i have a ati aiw on two different operating systems. i used win98 to do video capture and it worked. however when i had installed win2000 and used it to do video capture, there was no audio being recorded.

i used the same software drivers that were provided and even went to ati technical support to download the latest driver.

does anyone have any idea as to the problem???

thank you.

I also run Win 2000 and have the ATI AIW Radeon card. I had exactly the same problem you did about being unable to record sound and it drove me nuts. I finally figured out on my own what the problem was. I have a Sound Blaster Live! Platinum card. The problem I had was that the Sound Blaster controls (for some reason I don't understand) have 2 separate volume controls. One of the volume controls was turned all the way down and once I turned the sound up on it, I was magically able to record sound when I recorded video. Also, make sure that your Line-In is turned on and the volume is up under the Windows 2000 setting that controls sound. Hope this helps.

I had the same problem. ATIs website is poorly laid out.

It took me quite a long time to find this driver: http://support.ati.com/infobase/3787.html

This should resolve your problem with sound/video capture and WIN2000.

I have been searching for a solution for over 2 days and getting peeevvveeeddddd!!

seems you need a stable audio board as well. my board failed in the .25% threshold of the ATI media centre controll pannel. and I still aint getting sound!!!!!

My sound card is built onboard a intel 850gb and dosnt seem to work. Even after a driver update.(17/1/2001) and ati tv 7.1.

Are you using WIN 95/98/ME or 2000?

The driver will only fix the sound problem for WIN 2000.

(I could not find any fixes for video/sound capture problems for WIN ME)

FYI - I am using a PIII 550, ABIT BE6-II motherboard, Turtle Beach sound card system with the ATI AIW Raedon.

Pls get rid of any ATI products, I am 100%sure it will trouble ur system one or another way... Sometimes with your scanner, videocamera etc.. ALL_IN_WONDER PRO 32MB is royaly screwing me for past 3 months . I lost my money ($199) and time.. Simply ATI products will not work... Try to contact them, then U will really understand how they are screwing u...
