Any machine knitters here?

Are there any machine knitters here? I am trying to find a forum or chat room for machine knitters as I have a couple of machines I wish to sell. My vision will no longer allow me to knit. I am now limited to weaving rag rugs on my loom. Judith

Hi Judith, I don't machine knit, but there must be some who do on this forum!

Your rag rug weaving sounds cool! Do you tear rags and sew them together in a big ball before you start? Could you tell us a little about your process?

Judith I read a forum thread about machine knitting on another homestead type forum a short while ago. I will give the url here. I posted a message there about your post here so that anyone interested might get together with you.

Hi Judith, I used to have machine knitters. I sold them in my yarn shop. They were the ones made by Brothers. Wh one is yours?I thought I would not knit again and just stick to quilting. Now I am knitting socks again, so don't say to quickly that you may not knit again. But, having said that, I don't know if I can afford it but how much do you want for it and give me some more info about the machine. Thanks, Ada

Sheepish....I am quite lazy and buy my rags in coils. They are mostly sheeting and when that material comes off their commercial looms onto bolts they then cut the ends of the bolts/rolls off to the desired size. Just like cutting a log with a chain saw. I also use loopers which are about 3 to 4 inch circles of terry cloth about an inch wide. These are by-products of the sock industry. I then dye them in desired colors and then half hitch into chains, put onto the weaving shuttles and away I go. These make very heavy thick rugs and are excellent at doors , in front of sinks and as bath mats, as they are so water absorbant. They also go in the washer and dryer. I am using rugs that I made 6 or 7 years ago and they get washed at least once a week. I also have a bolt of 50/50 tee shirt material. Since this is woven in the round it too makes a circle when cut and tho the loops of this are about two ft long, it still can be dyed and then half hitched into chains. It too wears and washes well. Drys in the drier in about 1/3 the time of the terry cloth ones. So...now you know my secrets...do it the easy way! Most of my rugs are about 35 to 40 inches wide and run from 44 to 72 inches long. Judith I would be interested in hearing about your machines that you have for sale. I am an avid crocheter. I have always loved the idea of machine knitting, and to be honest was always afraid to purchase a machine and then learn quickly that it was to small. Alot like sewing machines, once you have sewed on a commercial machine, your ole 100$ Singer feels like a toy! You can email me privately,
