Corn Sheller

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Hello, I have a good friend who is trying to restore an old time corn sheller (the type with a big wheel which you turn by hand), the frame has rotted off of the existing hardware, but all of the hardward is in good shape, but we're trying to find a picture of something similar to see where to place the tapered piece which you put the ear in, it seems to need to move with the size of the ear - we're stumped all of the rest of it went together real well!!

thanks Norman in Missouri

I have several corn shellers, and I think one is like yours. I will send you a picture.

You could also go to ebay and do a search for corn shellers- they usually have pictures with the ads.

Another source of pictures is one of those repro Sears catalogs from the 1800's. They usually have a good picture and I've found several things in there that helped me identify items I've gotten at sales and just wasn't sure about. Jan
