This is an interesting picture because it shows the leaves in an unusual way and provides a nice contrast between the forms and the negative space (darkness). The composition is kind of weak, though, with the leaves almost perfectly centered. In my opinion, it would be a much stronger image if the leaves were off center, say to the right, with lots of darkness on the left.

Mike, this is a gorgeous picture. I've seen a lot of competitions and I wouldn't worry about the leaves being centered. The test of the pudding is whether it "looks" and "feels" right. And this one does. My opinion only. Also, I didn't realize that Sensia did so well with the browns and golds. Very nice. Kate

Isn't this upside down? Just seems to bother me a bit.

Probably my aboretal skills at fault. Photo is right way up, they are dying leaves that have partially dried out and curled up rather than dropped off the tree. On reflection they may be Sweet Chestnut (they are not tapered enough for Horse Chestnut, albeit it is a cluster /palm of five leaves) hence more likely to point up than droop down- I took an awfull lot of leaf photos that day playing with backlight and did not keep accurate records of what I photographed.
