Boy faces jail for slapping girl's bottom

A SCHOOLBOY who slapped a girl on the bottom for a joke is facing two years in a juvenile prison for sexual harassment.

The 13-year-old girl, a classmate, did not complain but a teacher who saw the incident at Espanola Middle School in northern New Mexico reported it to the police.

The authorities are considering charging the boy with criminal sexual contact, although the mother of the girl said she would not have pressed charges. She said: "It was only a slap on the butt. Cheeky boys have been doing that for years." The mother of the boy involved said: "It's political correctness gone mad."

Police are using forensic scientists to determine the force of the slap to decide whether to charge the boy with criminal sexual contact or merely assault and battery. Wayne Salazar, Espanola's police chief, said: "The suspect is alleging that this was not a sexual issue. But why the buttocks? Why not the arm?"

The incident happened before the Christmas holidays. The boy is expected to face a juvenile disciplinary board today .

Hey, Uncle Bob! I could tell you stories of how a slap on the butt escalated into outright sexual abuse involving students from the second through tenth grades. Maybe the other kids will keep their hands to themselves when they watch this kid hauled off. Discipline is nearly absent in schools and the home because social services won't LET anyone touch a child's buttocks...and I'll be damned if some bratty boy touches my daughters' buttocks and gets away with it.

Helen...you said Discipline is nearly absent in schools and the home ...I agree. Mostly it begins and ends in the home IMHO because school is for learning. When I was growing up my dad would have kicked my a$$ if I raised a hand to a girl or used the N word in reference to black people, or was disrespctful to people in any fashion. My 16 year old son is clear on this today. Our top- notch forensic scientists wouldn't be necessary if we went back to kicking a little a$$ when necessary. However, I still blame the snivling liberals, ACLU, et al for getting our society to where it is now...

We have had one thread on this already. Not your fault, just want to repost my thoughts from that thread.

I'd like to know more about this story. A couple of years ago, we had a similar incident, except it involved a boy who snapped a girl's bra strap. He was suspended, and the reaction was initially similar to the reaction to this story, until it came out that the boy hadn't merely snapped the bra strap, but had pretty much ripped it off the girl, along with most of her shirt.

Something tells me there's more to this story than meets the eye.

This is insanity. Suspension from school and community service would be more than sufficient to get the message across to this kid and others like him.
