Sub-Par American version

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Junkyard Wars : One Thread

An Americanized show would be sub-par. We constantly think that we know the best answer, and our entertainmet is recycled. We are stuck in a loop that proves we have no attention spans and cannot be introduced to anything new or foriegn without feeling the urge to turn it into something familiar.

I agree, an Americanized show would be very sub-par. Plus, an American version would have humorless and brainless Barbi & Ken hosts. And, the teams would probably have to dodge 'project threatening' obstacles during their construction time dreamt up by some juvenile entertainment exec.

Junkyard Wars is NOT a feature of VH1 or E!, and it should NOT bear the markings of such lousy vaudeville production. Yes, I know money talks and bullshit walks, but I seriously believe that Junkyard Wars is a GOOD educational show for kids---IF it's not turned into one of those bastard shows that feature "Survivor" teams who aren't actually "surviving" anything, because the mechanical designs were SCRIPTED from the outset.
