Lucianne's Happy New Year to her friends

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unk's Wild Wild West : One Thread

One morning a year the staff sleeps in. This gives me a chance to thank those who have labored mightily to see this site survives. As dotcoms drop off the Internet all around us we still stand, never stronger, with millions of page views a month and tens of thousands of registered participants because of you, dear Ldotters, and our dedicated staff.

I want to thank our tireless Webmaster Robert Graybear who has mastered the art of never sleeping. Our thanks also to Amy Sheehan, our West coast editor who can find an exciting news item hidden in the most remote corner of the world. Thanks, too, to Sheila Foust, Betsy Gibson, Brenda Armstrong, Chris Bauer and Fifi Benenson for their dedication. Thanks to Ronni Ashcroft our Roving Reporter for her endless contributions. There is of course, our Igor to thank. We will do this when he returns from Times Square and his all night search for discarded shiny things.

We are eternally grateful to our Ldot E mailers whose effectiveness we would negate by naming. They are the folks squirreled away out there in media, local and national government, the business community, Wall Street and yes, the White House. These dedicated Citizen Reporters are responsible for our most valuable information.

In twenty more days we shall be free, my friends. Free of those Three-Card-Monte-dealing, two-for-the-price-of-one, most-ethical administration-in-history charlatans who perpetrated the biggest political con game in our history. I like to think that if we had not raised our collective voices they would never have been exposed for what they are.

Most of all, I want to thank the other Internet sites and patriots who contributed to the change we will shortly see in Washington and throughout the country. They stood up and took the heat and it was not always pleasant - Matt Drudge, Sean Hannity, Rush and David Limbaugh, Joe Farah at WorldNetDaily, Chris Ruddy at Newsmax, David Horowitz at Front Page Magazine, Larry Klayman at Judicial Watch, Chris Hitchens, Bill O'Reilly, Ann Coulter, Barbara Olson, Joyce Milton, Barbara Comstock and her street fighters at the RNC, Mark Levin, James Golden, Paul Sperry, Russ Smith at the NY Press, the gang at the New York Post and Washington Times, Paul Rodriquez at Insight magazine, Ambrose Evans-Pritchett, the Elves, (and you know who you are). There is Paula Jones and all the Jane Does, David Schippers and of course Linda Tripp. Early on there was Jean Lewis. There was Notra Trulock and the brave folks in the ongoing E mail scandal. Everlasting thanks to Peggy Noonan, John Fund and all the Wall Street Journal's great OpinionJournal on line warriors. Our gratitude to the muscular minds over at National Review on Line and most particularly, of course, the editor Jonah Goldberg for whom we have a special fondness. There are dozens more who made a difference. Even now it would be dangerous to name them. Soon, we will look back, understand why and realize the reign of terror that has engulfed this country for 8 long years.

We are no longer our fathers' GOP. We are not as civilized, perhaps, as we used to be and this is good. For the first time in political history we have fought back. Unlike the democrats, we do not see politics as a profession but as patriotism. We do not see this country as something to be mined for power and treasure but something to be protected, fought for and preserved.

We move on into the new century with an enormous opportunity in our hands. Let us cherish and take pride in what we have fought for and won.

We started this site to let the like-minded know they are not alone. To give you a voice, a place to go and express your frustration. We feel we have accomplished that and we will continue to do so.

Thank you again. Happy, happy new year, God bless you and God bless America.

Lucianne Goldberg
