Not a GP, but I'll trade a registered Border Collie pup for one.

Cyndy, This is OT, but do you have goats with your Border Collies and how are they? I've been extremely impressed with this breed, but so far, all goat owners tell me they'd drive my goats crazy with their constant herding instincts. Can't the BC's be kept in separate area away from goats/livestock, except for when you want to herd them?

My dogs and goats get along good. General can stay out in the pasture with them and he just lies down and watches them if I tell him to. When he first runs out he wants to bring them, but I say "No, down" and he understands. My dogs have a big yard around the house. If a goat gets in the yard, and they do, the dogs will lay down around the goat, but they won't touch it or move it. They know they are not supposed to touch. Their instinct is to bring to you, not drive. If I'm not out there, there's no one to bring them to. Make sense? As soon as I walk out, they hop up and look at me to see if I want them to do something.

Mine all grew up with the animals, that is the most important thing. I keep the dogs and goats separate unless I am home, I like to keep my dogs in the kennel for their safety when I am gone. My dogs love to work, they love to please you, and they hate to get in trouble. They are so smart.

We are looking at the Gp dog to live with the goats as we have lots of predators here in the ozarks . And we realy like the looks of the Gp breed of dogs . As well as the temperment we have seen in 2 of our freinds GPs . Thanks for the responce everyone and HAPPY NEW YEAR !!

Marsha, you might want to check into working farm collies -- they are a little more laid back than most Border Collies (if you decide on a BC, though, get one from Cindy!), and do a good job of protecting the farm and stock. Here's a couple of url's to look at:

Hope you find what you are looking for!

Lee we wont have pups for a few years but I know others who will,I will ask when there litters are due.We love these dogs a bunch ,the best breed we ever owned! Some folks say they tend to get out or be barkers I will disagree with that, ours will leave the field to eat or come in the house but have never left the farm, would I trust them all day no we live way to close to the road.As far as barking the male will let me know if something is not right and thats about it the female is alittle more mouthy when the children are outside.

we have raised 3 litters from 1 female and keep in touch w/ about 75% of the new owners we got 1 complaint and I took the dog back at once {he got to big..well duh!}. We spayed our female because life is just to busy to fool w/ pups now{4 children 5 and under} to many tears when they would leave. We also found it difficult to find proper homes for the pups around here,I have strick guide lines for new owners and most of our pups ended up leaving the state to get into good homes..I will let you know if any breeders I know will have litters this year...make sure you get a pup who has seen a farm animal! alot of Gp breeders only show and do not even own livestock.
