natural gas from sewage and compost - methane digester

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Renewable Energy / Home Power : One Thread

Natural gas from sewage and compost - methane digesters - are supposedly practical now. Apparently just redirecting sewage and compost into the digester in urban areas meets the entire Kyoto protocol requirements for North American cities without even considering the natural gas production. What I want is a complete chemical breakdown of what the digester products are, with numbers to indicate roughly how much power can be produced... could, say, a single Unabomber live in his one room shack heating and lighting it entirely with his sewage and garbage output, assuming a reasonable organic garden?
