There is a company named Terapin that makes a stand-alone vcd recorder that functions just like a VCR. Their web site is www.goterapin.com. This is the only one I have found. THe price is $599 MSRP. Hope this helps.

There's also one by a company called AMOISONIC from China sold exclusively by INC Technologies. Their website, I believe is www.inc-tech.com/ It sells for about $675.00. Check it out!

I can get you a very good VDR if you are interested, it is made by DVA and has a built in DVD player on the left side and a CD burner on the right. it is better than all the rest because it is easy to use and set up. records in MPEG 1 or 2. email me for more info
