thanks for respons I had Experience to make karaoke vcd 1.-I'm take (capture) audio from source karaoke song ( VCD audio,LD audio,or analog tape karaoke) or, 2.- make my own music(song) rigth channel with full music and lyrics(singer) and the left channel only music 3.- mix with my video source or file video that I choose,and add text lyric on it. when I burn to make VCD its works with all players ( same like karaoke vcd in market exceps without text highligt) But the problem is, and still the problem for me is "how to make highlite text on it" I'm still searching software or hardware to make it i'm not try with adobe premiere yet ( two same text with diferrent color, super impose ,wipe transition I think its only works with only one line lyrics, how about two or three line lyrics song ? thanx for suggest & respons). Is Anyone have experience or succeed with make karaoke ? Or any software or hardware special to make it ??!! Thanks for all respons for me

I have not been successful with this yet but... try http://www.blue-labelle.com/us_info.htm This Karaoke authoring SW will create midi or MP3 karaoke file with the overlay text. Once this is created, I planned to play the Karaoke ,digitize the output back into the video capture card and use the chroma key to overlay. The big advantage to this system is that it is easier to get the timing of the charater highlighting than to edit the music one frame at a time.

It's wacky. It's untested. I did not master the Karaoke editing sw.

Hi,

it is now a long time ago since I had the idea to use quicktime to do the conversion from .kar to VCD and I answered a lot of mails where I explained how to do this. First of all you need Quicktime PRO, because only the PRO version has the needed export feature. With Quicktime you can convert the video part of the .kar (with hilite lyrics) to .avi and the MIDI-Part of the .kar to WAV or AIF digital audio. If you want to know more about Quicktime, read the tutorials you find at www.apple.com.

Quicktime is not able to convert the video and audio part at once: You have to convert them seperately. Convert the audio part to .aif or .wav (depends from the system you are using. WAV is better for PC, AIF better for MAC). Use the Quicktime Options to find the right font size! Import both parts into any video editor and align the audio to video (shouldn't be a problem, because Quicktime does a very good job...). Keep an eye on the right VCD size (352 x 288) for PAL. If the Quicktime Picture is too large, use the Scale function of your video editor. There is a little area around each PAL picture that cannot be used for video. So just do some experiments with the Scale function of your video editor (I prefer Adobe Premiere). Export the finished video to MPEG 1. Take care for the right options for VCD. When I tried to make my first karaoke disks, I was looking for a program that can do the job and unable to find one that exports to VCD. There is one that can do CD+G disks but not VCD. I was working with Quicktime before and first thought of writing my own authoring software based on MACROMEDIA DIRECTOR. But then I had the idea to use Quicktime to convert .kar files. This saved me a lot of time since there is so much software floating around the net that can help authoring .kar files. Since I have a very good digital project studio it wasn't a problem for me to get the best sound possible. For me it was just the easiest way to achieve my goal. Because so many people where asking for this I decided to post my solution on the net. I did not think of so much response!!!!

just use macromedia flash to create the highlighted words... export sentence by sentence to aavi then use an editor to import... although tedious, i have made a few this way before...unless you are willing to $$$ for some nifty s/w that automates everyting for you.

OK, let's see things clearly.

*REAL* Karaoke VCD disks store the music, the video and the lyrics in separate streams. Normally the audio and video streams are multiplexed in separate tracks, but lyrics are played "on the fly" using an overlay mixer ON THE PLAYER. 100% of the guides I have found on the net refers to create tracks with "burned in" subtitles on the a/v track, but those are *NOT* karaoke vcds. I managed to create such tracks and they do *NOT* activate the karaoke options in my karaoke player because they are regular a/v tracks as many other such movies, video clips, etc.

The only authoring system I have seen to be able to create REAL karaoke vcds as sold in some sites and the asian people use is "I- Author SVCD Deluxe".

Kbuilder and meny other do NOT create Karaoke VCDs.
