Don't forget the eclipse tomorrow, starting a little after 11AM, peaking at 12:47. Look at it using a pinhole projection, or with the appropriate welders goggles as mentioned in the link.

See you at the Green tonight!

I hope everyone had a nice Christmas, unlike in areas outside the Promised Land, Santa visits our homes on a small boat called a pirogue (looks like a canoe) traveling through the swamps pulled by alligators, to help in his arrival the swamps are full of holiday bonfires (this is a spectacular sight from the air). Once again the old boy made it just fine, I understand the last house he visited was Cajun down the road and he is currently passed out, just like he last year, most amateurs can not go toe to toe with Cajuns either drinking or eating, guess the rest of the world should be happy we are on the tail end of Santa's route. Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday.

We have been busy cooking this morning as we are having some friends over, the table is almost set, there is plenty of smoked turkey, smoked beef tenderloin and smoked and fried alligator and shrimp, lots of vegetables and salads, pralines and pecan pies, if y'all are in the area, please drop in.

would be best if Joe V. retired before the elctiuon, then we could try and get another seat won in May...but my guess is he'll hang on until after the elction, then resign so the boys can appoint someone to replace him for a full year!

See the article in today's Freeman about free speech and the board...Go meg! When it came up at the last meeting there was dead silence from the board majority....My guess is they're trying to get Hal on talking with us at last May's Woodstock Town green political rally...claiming he was campaigning...he wasn't...but they listened to liar liar David Boyle say he was, and now they thnik they've got Hal on another "charge." I could be wrong, but can't think of another free speech issue they could be interested in! T. Tobe

I heard today that Rod Paige, Superintendent of the Houston Independent School District is being considered for appointment as the new Secretary of Education. I have dealt with Dr. Paige on an ongoing mascot matter in Houston. To put it lightly Dr. Paige is both a bigot of the worst kind and an accomplished liar and is the exact opposite of what our children should have as head of the U.S. educational system. I formed my opinion of Dr. Rod Paige based on my direct and indirect dealings with him. I hope no child is ever required to have any portion of their education entrusted to a person such as Dr. Paige. Not only does Dr. Paige lack the courtesy to return calls, he avoids tough issues with the utmost determination and is numb to all native issues and concerns, and his secretary does not understand how to put a phone on hold. One particular time I called to follow up on a fax to Dr. Paige because our faxes and letters were generating no responses, and being ignored annoys me. When I was transferred to Dr. Paige's secretary she thought she had me on hold and she told Dr. Paige "it is Charles Yow, that Indian attorney". Dr. Paige told her to tell me he was on a trip and would not be back until the following week. She told me exactly what he said, and just before I hung up I told her she needed to learn how to put a phone on hold and I heard Dr. Paige's entire dialogue, and how disappointed I was and I hung up before she had a chance to say anything. Almost immediately Dr. Paige called back stuttering and stammering about how his secretary misunderstood where he was, etc... and how he never received my faxes or letters, then I reminded him I also heard her mention my fax, and had previously talked with the secretary who indicated my letters and faxes were sitting on his desk. Caught in yet another lie Dr. Paige did a little more stuttering and stammering, or as I like to call it, he was doing the liar's waltz, needless to say, he is a liar, not a very good one either. Dr. Rod Paige firmly believes if someone's intent is not racist no actions on their part can be racist, I told Dr. Paige I was glad MLK did not agree, he said that is different because the issues MLK was dealing with regarding African-Americans are different than what you and Lawrence Sampson are complaining about. Rod Paige thinks race issues only involve blacks, and native issues do not count. On his best day Rod Paige is a bigoted, professional racist who is proud to be counted among the ranks of Texas' leading anti natives. Stopping Rod Paige's nomination should be a priority, no bigot should hold a position as a school district's garbage collector, much less head of our educational system Charles Yow Director Native American Heritage Initiative CYow@Yowlaw.com
