Where to buy parts for Canon EOS

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon EOS FAQ forum : One Thread

Does anybody know of a location to buy small parts for Canons? Right now I'm in need of a battery door for an Elan II(e), but in the past there have been other things as well. None of our local shops want to bother with this, they just want to repair it and charge me for work I know I can do myself. I've looked over Canon's web site and I don't see a phone number or email address specifically for buying parts.

Jim, I don't know how it works over there, but in Australia it seems that Canon will only sell to the stores. And they are very selective about the stores that stock their pro gear. Good luck.

Canon (USA) will sell you small parts. I actually bought a battery door for an Elan and 10s - sorry, I don't have one for an Elan II!

They were only a few $ each. Don't know the exact number to call, I'd just pick an 800 number and work your way through the system until you eventually get to what you need. I'm sure that's what I did (it was quite a few years ago so I don't quite remember).

Call the general Canon phone number (800-828-4040) and ask for the parts department. Or, alternately, ask if your local repair station can sell you the parts. FYI, I ordered owner's manuals through the parts department for much less that the standard $7 they charge through the service line.

I called the number Dave gave and it worked. The part was here in two days. Amazing, considering "here" is Alaska.
