Ya know, I thought this bar was in a tropical paradise, but in looking out the window, this is what I'm seeing:

Not sayin' that's a bad thing; did you put up a screen print outside the window capn?

-- Patricia (PatriciaS@lasvegas.com), December 22, 2000.

I think Santa must have sprinkled some magic dust in the libations or tinkered with the weather patterns, not that it's all bad I guess, does give one that holiday season feeling.

-- capnfun (capnfun1@excite.com), December 22, 2000.

sumer, Raven had a good suggestion about renting Roger & Me. I'm renting a copy because the 20-something cousins will be over tonight and haven't seen it. There's a lot of food for thought there and some classic Moore humor. Have a great holiday!

-- cin (cin@cin.cin), December 22, 2000.

kb8,

I only got a partial picture of the tree with the chili pepper lights (a patron josteled my arm when I was snapping the pic ;)

Do you think we should put it in the corner near the kitchen or the restrooms?

-- Peg (pegmcloed@mediaone.net), December 22, 2000.

Beautiful Peg! Thanks. Wherever one hangs up chili lights, a party will ensue! I dunno. Do we want a party back by the bathrooms? I'll leave that up to you.

Have a happy holiday if you're celebrating anything this weekend and a good weekend if you're not.

-- (kb8um8@yahoo.com), December 23, 2000.

LOL cin! You're not the only one whose mind works that way ;-)

Peg, I'd think I'd move the tree away from the bathrooms; call it an intuition.

So, is this going to be a Weekend Long Party? (Yes!!)

-- Patricia (PatriciaS@lasvegas.com), December 23, 2000.

Cin,

OHHHH MYYYY!!!!!! (BIG BLUSH) $100.00 and a phone #!!! : )))

Good Lord, the capn could have a very merry Christmas indeed!!!

As the capn slides Cin a pitcher of Stoli and cranberry ; )

-- Lon Frank (lgal@exp.net), December 23, 2000.

Hell yea!!! Lon,'cept if ya wanna go outside ya can, country style.

-- capnfun (capnfun1@excite.com), December 23, 2000.

Hey, Capn,

since it looks like you an' me are the only derilects hanging around today, I got a question for ya.

A couple of years ago, our little cruise ship moored next to the Chilean tall ship, the Barque Esmeralda. It was a marvelously happy accident for me, and I went straightaway to the gangplank to ask for a tour. They immediately called up a young officer who spoke English, and who very graciously gave us a personal showing of his lovely little ship. He also gave us a visitors packet, and offered to let us purchase some Chilean wine, that they had on board to promote their wine industry. We bought a couple of bottles, very nicely packaged in wooden boxes, more because we appreciated the tour, than because we were wine drinkers. In fact, when it comes to wine, I ain't got no culture at all!

So, anyway, we gave one bottle to some new friends on the boat, and still have the other one. It's Concha y Toro, Cabernet Sauvignon, 1995. We have heard that Chilean wine is highly rated, but what do you think. We plan to have it Christmas Eve, with steaks. Is that a good idea?

------------------

-- Lon Frank (lgal@exp.net), December 23, 2000.

Lon,

That sounds great,Chilean cabs are very good with meat, they have an earthiness to em' that compliments a steak, that bottle should be prime for corkin',if one bottle isn't or may not be enough and you want to stay in the South American theme try Alamos Malbec an Argentenian,it can be had for about $9.99.

Merry Christmas, from one derilict to another ; )

-- capnfun (capnfun1@excite.com), December 23, 2000.

Thanks for the advice capn. Since all the boys will be home, along with a couple of friends, I thought about a second bottle as well. I got a Texas wine, Llano Estacado Signature Red (Meritage Red). I think I told you the story of my unwitting role in the origination of this winery on an older thread. I've had the Llano wines once or twice before, and remember them as pretty good. But remember, this critique is from someone who still remembers Annie Greensprings in a romantic light.

-----------------------------------

-- Lon Frank (lgal@exp.net), December 23, 2000.

Lon,

Yes,the Lanno's a good one also,I do very well with it,especially the meritage.Well buddy, hate to leave you all alone but the salt mines calleth, retail hell : \

-- capnfun (capnfun1@excite.com), December 23, 2000.

Belly up to the bar everybody, the libations are on the house!!! The Christmas leg of the holiday trifecta is complete, time to relax and enjoy!!!

The champagne buffet is now open, all the Kristal,Vueve Clicquot,Moet, Mumm and Nivole you can consume,if you would like,Chamborg is available upon request at the bar.

Also being served today;goose pate, salmon cheese rolls and select deli cuts.

Anybody have any ideas for dinner?

Happy Holidays Yaw'll : )

-- capnfun (capnfun1@excite.com), December 24, 2000.

I've got a brace of Cornish Rock Hens, capnfun. Maybe we could do something with those in time for dinner.

-- (Raven@never.more), December 24, 2000.

Mayhaps we could roast them on an open fire down at the beach?

-- capnfun (capnfun1@excite.com), December 24, 2000.

Sounds good to me. How about some potatoes to go along with them? We could warp them in foil and bury them in the ashes. You're the wine expert. What goes with roasted hen? Oh, and I'm craving orange jello with carrots and marshmallows for some reason. Am I sick, or what?

-- (Raven@never.more), December 24, 2000.

I think a Pinot Noir sounds good, maybe a nice rich chardonnay too.Can we put onions and carrots in with the taters? I'll leave the deserts up to you ; )

-- capnfun (capnfun1@excite.com), December 24, 2000.

Yes, let's stuff those potatoes and just throw them in the oven. I'll make a batch or two of brownies while the oven is warming. I don't feel like fussing too much today. Roasting hens on the fire sounds grand. How about a small taste of the chosen wine to sip on while I'm mixing? Seems like a good choice to me.

-- (Raven@never.more), December 24, 2000.

save the chardonnay for later in the meal, unless that's sumer over in the corner? I thought she had some last minute shopping to do.

-- (Raven@never.more), December 24, 2000.

Leave the Chard chillin',Sumer will have the cotton-mouth,as she has probably been cuddlin' with the bong ; )

And the pate is wonderful.Exactly what kind of brownies are you making? Anything I might be really inclined to ingest?

-- capnfun (capnfun1@excite.com), December 24, 2000.

A-l-l-l-l-l Right! Everything is ready to take outside. Looks like the guys have already gathered the wood and have a nice blaze going. The stuffed potatoes are keeping warm in the oven, all moist in their foil coverings. Somebody made some salad. There are two kinds of brownies cooling on the racks: fudge (plain) and chocolate with crushed walnuts.

Ak! Leave them alone. They need to cool.

Where's that glass of 'noir ............ I set down here somewhere. Bring it out to fire if you see it, please.

I love Christmas Eve. Cooking out. What a great idea! How about some carols?

We're outside, everyone.

-- (Raven@never.more), December 24, 2000.

Yeah everybody, come on down to the beach,I think we even have some crab legs Santa dropped off before he was to get busy.

BTW,Iv'e got the *special* brownies getting started now ; )

Hey Raven!!! your class of wine is on the little table next to the jukebox.

-- capnfun (capnfun1@excite.com), December 24, 2000.

Yeah. Got it. Be sure to add plenty of SUGAR to your "special" brownies, capnfun, if you're putting in them what I think you are.

I'll be by the fire if anyone needs me. Dinner will be ready in 45 minutes or so. Don't tell me that lady with the honkers just took off her blouse?! What a night.

-- (Raven@never.more), December 24, 2000.

Not only did she remove the blouse, but the fella's are having a contest bouncing quarters off of em',who can get the longest bounce,if ya make it off of em' and into the rocks glass it's worth $5.00,hell,maybe I'll take a shot!

-- capnfun (capnfun1@excite.com), December 24, 2000.

Hey!! a buddy of mine just brought some homemade spiced-rum eggnog, tastes great!!! He also brought some Ky moonshine (12 mason jars) ,it's gonna be a fine night : )

-- capnfun (capnfun1@excite.com), December 24, 2000.

Dinner's on ..... hic! Excusssssssse me.

-- (Raven@never.more), December 24, 2000.

Just in...........

Grandma come stumbling thru the front door, and started mumbling some sort of jibberish about a vehicle with some animals attacted to the front of it. It buzzed her as she was reaching down to pick up her vodaka bottle. Said it scared the hell out of her. Can you believe such garbage? Of course you must understand, the bottle she has in her hand is only half full, or is it half empty? When I rushed out to she what all the fuss was about, I could see nothing. However, I did find some droppings on the drive. True droppings because Grandma had some on her shoe as she wobbled across the living room floor and fell into the Christmas tree. My how she lights up now, never saw her so bright before.

Say have any of you noticed anything suspicious in your neighborhood skies tonight? Could it have been Santa that she saw? We will never know the truth of the matter. She was so out of it, that she could have even seen Gore as president, and tried to make us all believe that it was true.

If what she said she saw was true, tell all your drinking Grandmas to stay low to the ground, because it appears that this individual gets his charges out of buzzing little old ladies.

-- (another@brickinthe.wall), December 24, 2000.
