MA - Commuter jet lands safely after circling Logan By Associated Press, 12/21/2000 01:57 BOSTON (AP) A Cincinnati-bound commuter jet carrying 53 passengers landed safely at Logan International Airport early Thursday after reporting problems with its landing gear.

Comair Flight 3008 circled Logan for about an hour before landing safely on Runway 33L, said Phil Orlandella, a spokesman for the Massachusetts Port Authority.

Orlandella said that the right main gear pin, which locks the gear in place, was not pulled, causing an emergency light to go on. The landing gear was down and operating when the Canadian Challenger regional jet landed.

The plane took off at 12:05 a.m., and Massport was alerted to the problem at 12:15 a.m., Orlandella said. The plane then circled the aiport for more than an hour, burning fuel, before finally landing at 1:34 a.m., he said.

The plane taxied to Terminal C, Gate 12.

Comair could not immediately be reached for comment.
