Does your DVD player read CDR or CDRW?
You need to answer this question first.
Go to www.vcdhelp.com and see if your player is in the list that can read cdr or cdrw.

Go to URL http://www.vcdhelper.com/dvdplayers.htm (note the new address) and check whether or not your player is discussed there. Friendly greetings, Eppo R. Kooi.

The chances are your toshiba dvd player does not support cdr media. Maybe look for a multi-generation dvd player not toshisba. Even some model of toshisba VCD player also don't support VCD 2.0

I know that they don't read CD-R's, but I have had successes with CD-RWs (make sure they are silver or white disks, ones that look as close as possible to a DVD). I am still having a hell of a time trying to get it to read a VCD though. I was able to make a picture VCD using Nero and it read that. And I was able to download a *.MPG from www.vcdhelp.com and burn it in VCD form that was read in my 2200. But I have yet to get it to read an *.MPG that I have encoded.

Does anyone know the EXACT settings (using TMPGenc or Flask) to make a VCD? The Toshiba SD-2200 seems REALLY picky about what it likes.

HELP! HELP! HELP!

The best thing to do is to buy a DVD player that is CDR/CD-RW compatible, We would all like to find the quick fix that won't cost us any money but if you're serious about creating and watching your own disks then it's the best option (it will save all the headaches). Nearly all players manufactured nowadays are compatible and are a lot less expensive than they used to be.
