Wheel of Fortune should be removed

greenspun.com : LUSENET : MAME Action Replay : One Thread

I noted the same thing as Arjen: same puzzles every time. We could say 'include an NVRAM' but it'd be on trust people wouldn't try the same NVRAM over and over before they got a perfect score. It's essentially all luck in any case.

Can anyone tell me, why I can't get it to play back? I've tried everything. Anyone?

Bye.

you'll need to copy the nvram/wfortune.nv file BEFORE you record to get it to playback, since this is a game that seems to take full advantage of the nonvolitile memory. To play it back you need to copy the nv file from the previous record to the nvram directory (since after you record the game the nv file would have changed.)

yep i agree that this one should be removed. one of the first business operations of the new regulation coordinator will be to organize a vote of all known games like this one to be "asterisked" from marp.

And I agree that this game should be removed (no leaderboard points). But people should still be able to upload a perfect game. Is there an end?

I deleted the nvram after every game, because that's what you have to do with most games which use it. This one is different.

I deleted my recording. I only submitted it to show that there might be a problem with this one. It's still a good game, though. my girlfriend loves it. :)

Bye, Arjen...

I'm sorry to those who've uploaded it - but this is obviously a game of luck - not skill. I must vote aye.

Count another vote for asterisking the game. Besides, since when does any game with Pat Sajak have any quality?

Sincerely,

J.D. Lowe

oh, and for people who like to add to the list of puzzles. And for people who don't want to know the list, do not scroll down.

Here is the list:

1) Sweet bird of Youth (Title) 2) Latin Lovers (People) 3) Animal Crackers (Title) 4) Hospital Ship (Thing) 5) County Fair (Event) 6) Non Smoking Section (Place) 7) Harness racing Track (Place) (thanks, Donut)

Bye, Arjen...

I don't think you can asterisk this because I haven't found the real end. I played the champion version for over 100 rounds before I stopped (using multiple credits of course, and multiple players so it won't freeze). I'm sure the challenger version is the same. Also you can't spin the $900 space all the time, so there's no perfect way there either.

BTW here are more puzzles in the challenger version: 8. Chesapeake Bay (place) 9. Robinson Crusoe (title) 10. Dandelions (things) 11. The Sands Of Time (phrase) 12. Foul Shot (thing) 13. Thomas Jefferson (person) 14. Air Raid Wardens (people) 15. A Hard Day's Night (title) 16. Hand Grenade (thing) 17. Church Picnic (event) 18. Swan Lake (title)

More to come...
