"Piece Of Mind"

January 4, 2001

JAMES BELUSHI ('RETURN TO ME') GUEST-STARS ON NEW YEAR'S EVE -- New Year's Eve falls as Dr. Greene (Anthony Edwards) submits to dangerous, experimental brain surgery in New York with a hopeful Dr. Corday (Alex Kingston) by his side while a guilt-ridden father (guest star James Belushi, "Return to Me") who is severely injured in a car wreck is only concerned with the safety of his teenaged son (guest star Jared Padalecki) who is also hurt. However, the dad's condition deteriorates as the irascible Dr. Romano (Paul McCrane) is called on to begin desperate heart surgery and Greene's radical procedure soon develops complications.

Gee, I KNEW that Greene would end up Cleo-ed...Well, maybe Liz could have some advice from Benton on how to deal with a veggie-boyfriend...ooops, was Dr. Dave channeling through me? =)

That's it for the NBC description? Yeesh, I sure hope something else happens in this episode. How about it, JLS? What are some of the other plotlines in this one besides surgeries gone awry?

No, that really is pretty much it. Dull as all hell, tho there are some nice Mark/Elizabeth scenes.

Thanks JLS! This is the episode I was talking about in another thread. Should be a good one.

No Carter? No Luka? No Abby? No Deb? No Peter?

-- Ellen (eedgert1@twcny.rr.com), December 15, 2000.

I'm sure they will be on there, but NBC just wants to make a big deal out of the 2 big stories...James Belushi's appearance and Mark's situation (which is just getting more and more dramatic, I would never have suspected!)

Yes Luka, yes Abby. Carter's around. Much of the staff is involvled on the James Belushi storyline. But I found it all terribly dull. I can't recall if the Kynesha storyline is continued in this episode as well or the next one. She's in at least 2 more.

Definitely no Deb. No Deb for quite a few episodes.

No Kim or Kerry? No angst? No awkwardness and avoidance?

-- Spring (springuyen@aol.com), December 16, 2000.

No Dave? He's my favorite and I wish he would have more screen time. Does anyone know if he has a story line in the near future?

-- Kelley M. (takel@earthlink.net), December 16, 2000.

Surprise, surprise...complications during Mark's surgery!

-- amanda (amanda.rehm@home.com), December 16, 2000.

of course there's gonna be complications...they can't make everything go smoothly, this thing's *supposed* to be inoperable.
