And for those who don't know or care, Its the SUPREME COURT that keeps us free of the POLITICIANS

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Poole's Roost II : One Thread

IF albore had been favored by the Supreme Court vs. Bush ver.2.0 even I could live with that because.......THE SUPREME COURT SO RULED.

Albore LOST THE ELECTION. HE LOST HIS LARGE LEAD ON MEMORIAL DAY BECAUSE ............GWB came from behind. LIVE WITH IT just as we have had to live with Clintstone for 8 years and the good and bad of that. Presidents are not SAINTS.

THE REPUBLIC WILL SURVIVE..........GWB OR albore. IT CANNOT SURVIVE DIRTY LITTLE....... GUTTER SNIPES........ CALLING THE PRESIDENT OF THE US A "BRAT" OR A DUMMY. FYI, GWB HAS A MASTER'S DEGREE IN BUSINESS AND THEY DON'T GIVE THOSE OUT FOR PAYING TUITION AT HARVARD OR YALE OR .......ANYPLACE BUT A SCHOOL ENDORSED BY FRINGERS. and......LAY OFF THE SUPREME COURT. THE LAWYERS DO BECAUSE THEY RESPECT THE COURT.

They are the institution........ almost Everyone hates from time to time. Except for those they PROTECT: from "Gideon" (you have the right to an attorney)........to Jane Roe.........to those who "sat in" at the Woolworth counters in the South and were treated to water hoses for dessert.

By evoking the FIRST AMENDMENT and the 14th the Supreme Court since the 1950s has FREED the VOICES who must be heard in a DEMOCRACY from the Fascists to the Communists to the Free Love to the Atheists to the worst and even the best we have. AND with the 14th EXTENDED DEMOCRACY TO THOSE OF OTHER COLORS AND LANGUAGES AND CULTURES.

Wow -- a Master's Degree in Business?!?! I'm thinking he might want to get Daddy's money back on THAT one.

(Sorry, but you left an opening -- I felt obligated to fill it.)

Wait a minute there Pops. The 14th amendment only exists because the Congress passed and the states ratified. Come to think of it, name any amendment mandated by ANY court? Courts can and have gotten ahead of the relatively slow curve of good legislation but they can make pretty shakey heros as well. New horse?

The MBA seems to have paid off in the Texas Ranger deal except that he may have left a great deal of money on the table. Consider that Tom Hicks is shelling out $252 Million for a shortstop over 10 years while GWB only got a GP of about $10 Mill.

OR

Just enough for any normal person to retire from business and enter public service. albore will not do that because there is little evidence he understands or believes in the Free Enterprise system or even common stocks. According to his financial statement, he "doesn't buy common stocks" (a most interesting fact to think about).

Charlie, do you ever "expand your horizons", or are Business and Dollar Signs the only thing you see?

Frankly, aside from the fact that he's a Texan, it surprises me you're a Bush "supporter". Failed business after failed business. I would think you'd have a few "lessons" for him.

Sometimes you contradict yourself and you don't even realize it.

thomas and scalia should have recused

ok. check this out.....

http://www4.law.cornell.edu/uscode/28/455.html

Section 455 of Title 28 of the US Code rather specifically states that if a judge's spouse or a relative of up to the third degree has a vested financial interest which might be affected by the outcome of a court proceeding, MUST recuse themselves.

well.....thomas' wife works for the heritage foundation gathering resumes for a possible bush administration.

scalia's son works for the law firm that is representing bush.

WHAT THE HELL!?

don't believe me....read it for yourself. you conservative types complain about "activist courts" ad infinitum.....but, in my opinion, not only has the SCOTUS acted in a partisan and clearly activist manner by stopping the recount.....but in doing so thomas and scalia may have broken the law.
