Answers

The crucifix was originally invented by the Romans to punish "criminals" and the recently conquered. It served as a great "crime" deterent since crucifictions happened in public places and those who were crucified took a long time to expire. Riligiously, I believe the crucifix holds meaning for sacrifice for you christians, whereas your god gave his life to "save" the christians. if you need more detail from me you will need to be more specifc as to what you need elaboration on :)

As Muslims we believe: 1)Jesus was not God at all but he was Gods Messenger/prophet. 2)He did not die on the Crucifix, but was raised to heaven.

The cross signifies that Christ died for our sins, all of us. That list of things we've ever done wrong got nailed up to the cross right along with him. We are not built, nor expected to deal with sin on our own. However, the sacrifice on the cross only frees us from sin if we put our faith in Christ, Lord Jesus alone. The Bible does refer to Jesus as Lord in numerous places (Titus 2:13,Hebrews 2:8-12, John 1:1, Hebrews 1:8, Romans, 9:5, 1 John 5:20,21). Many religious sects do not believe Jesus to be the direct avenue to God as a result of having received supplemental doctrine that states otherwise. However, the Bible warns against such doctrine, saying, "But even if we (Paul and his comrades), or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accured (cut off from God and salvation)" (Galatians 1:8) Revelation 22:18-19 and Deuteronomy 4:2 convey the same message. Jesus Christ is Lord and savior, and the cross that he died on signifies grace, peace, hope, love, forgiveness, freedom from sin, and so much more. This is the deeper, or true, meaning behind the cross.
