The first time I saw the Yellowstone River I was in awe, thinking I had stepped back into the past, into some primordial time before humans ever steeped foot on the earth. I saw herds of bison, and birds in the river and imagined easily my time travel experience. I think this photo captures some of that feeling. The simplicity of the forms and the graphic nature of the shore fading into the fog evoke this for me.

I think I would crop just above the clouds. You were probabably trying to keep the deep blue, but the composition looks better to me cropped at the top so the picture is not cut in half by the horizon. Nice feeling of solitude and I like the depth of focus.

Nice, clean composition. I like the way the edge of the reeds draws the eye from the foreground to the misty distances. As for improvements, the foreground could be a little lighter (maybe with a 1-stop gradiant filter?), and I agree with the crop recommendation above. Also, the horizon looks just a little off-horizontal to me.

Thanks for the input. However, I think that the deep blue sky is very important to this image. Without it there is no feeling of space.
