Built-in Flash when using 28-70/f2.8 lens

Does the built-in flash in cameras like the Elan-7 have a problem with a big lens like the 28-70/f2.8 lens?

Will the flash work well, or will the lens cause a flash-shadow?

The Elan 7's flash is about the same relative position as other EOS cameras so it would follow that if the others have the problem (they do) so would the Elan 7.

You could search the archives at photo.net, but you'd just find that the top of the lens cuts off the light from the bottom of the picture, mostly in wide zoom settings and more so when focusing close. This lens was never meant to be used with a built-in flash.
