Malaysia Luxury Train Derails
KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) -- An Asian version of the luxurious Orient Express derailed Monday as it approached a station in northern Malaysia, a news report said. None of the 49 passengers were hurt.
The train, which is operated by Singapore's E&O Services Pte. Ltd., was traveling from Singapore to Bangkok when it jumped the tracks near Butterworth station, the national news agency Bernama said, quoting E&O general manager Tom Evers.
Railway officials were investigating the cause of the accident. Malayan Railway spokeswoman Azizah Ujang said the Orient Express would resume its journey Tuesday.
