Where to find Morton's Tender Quick?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

My Father-in-law uses Tender Quick when smoking meat. He is on his last bag and the store he bought it from is out of business. I called around to local butcher shops and they don't carry it. So, I called Morton to ask where in California I can buy some. They told me Virginia! When I got on the net I found the Sausage Maker -- New York! Isn't this stuff sold anywhere out West. Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks, Jen

A quick search on the WEB for "Morton Salt" yielded this site.

Send them an email asking where this product is sold in your local area.

My Fred Meyer has it right next to the regular salt. Makes good corned Moose! Jill

I found mine also next to the regular salt in Wedgmen's here in Pennsylvania. Can you ask your father-in-law if he has the recipe from the older box {one pound carton} which I first got my best recipe on summer sausage but lost it somewhere. I am trying to find that recipe on the web, no results. Mortons has a different one now, not the old one ANY HELP?

Walmart will sometimes carry it when they have a good inventory of canning supplies. Also, you can get it from Cumberland General Store http://www.cumberlandgeneral.com/ Good luck!

Thanks everyone, for your ideas. I guess I'm too close to Suburbia for the regular stores to carry it. I did, however, find a butcher shop in a neighboring town willing to order, and his supplier is in Los Angeles, so shipping won't be outrageous. Happy Holidays!
