This recipe is just like Grandma used to make....because my Granny is the one that taught me :o). Take however many berries you need for the size pan you intend to bake it in and add not quite the same measure of sugar....tiny pinch of salt...just a wee bit of water to keep it from scorching till it starts to juice....cook on top of the stove till it soups up real good and starts to thicken a bit...when it is nearly ready stir a little bit of flour in a little water till disolved and add to your berries. Pour berry mixture into baking dish and then cut strips of pie crust and lay on top...more or less solid...you cut it in strips so the juice can have room to bubble. Put it in about a 350 degree oven and bake till done. You can put butter and sprinkle sugar on the crust to make it fancy about 5 mins before taking it out of the oven. Real easy.

I use the "Lazy" cobbler recipe: 1 cup berries or fruit, 1 cup sugar, 1 cup milk, 1 cup flour(self rising), 1 stick margarine, 1 T. vanilla

Preheat oven to 350* Melt margarine in glass baking dish. Mix flour, sugar, milk and vanilla--pour into baking dish-- add fruit to the top of "batter". cook for 35 minutes or until golden brown!

You can use any fruit. I have used free, frozen and canned peaches, pears, raspberries, blueberrries, blackberries, apples and fruit cocktail!

To reduce sugar without reducing flavor or sweetness, add a tbsp of baking soda to your fruit, then about half as much sugar as called for. Taste and adjust. The b.s. reduces acids and cuts the need for sweetening.
