NZ: TransAlta glitch hits thousands

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Grassroots Information Coordination Center (GICC) : One Thread

A TransAlta botch-up has stung thousands of
Christchurch direct-debit customers and wrongly
delivered the cash from their prompt-payment
discounts to the power company's account.

TransAlta has admitted that a batch of direct-debit
payments for November 9 in Auckland, Wellington, and
Christchurch "defaulted" because of a computer
problem and were not processed until four days later.
