500mm lense

I have a canon eos camera and I bought a 500mm for a canon fd mount.would that work with my camera.

No. There have been adapters, but the best were meant to be used with Canon FD macro lenses only, and did not allow focusing at infinty. Even with an adapter that allows focusing to infinity, you would have to use stoped down metering, and close the aperture manually.

How about purchasing a used Canon AE-1 camera? They are inexpensive.

Canon made an eos/fd adaptor with 1,2x converter- and 2/3 f stop light reductioneffect a couple of years but evidently (I´ts described in my issue of canon book lenswork) they where to good (I´ts said to be impressing results) so canon stopped them. They are very rare in deed. Roumors for example says that there were only a couple of them sold in Sweden but you might hav a chans to get one in the states but dont count on it.
