Pyro - Gordon Hutchings - in UK ?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : B&W Photo - Film & Processing : One Thread

I have been reading up various articles on Pyro, PMK etc. including a precis of articles by Gordon Hutchings. He sells Pyro in liquid form but I can only find a single source for Pyro in the UK, Speedibrews. This is sold only in powder form and I do not know if it is exactly the same formula as Hutchings. Can anyone tell me where Hutchings' Pyro can be purchased in the UK or whether the Speedibrews formula is the same as Hutchings.

Concerning PYRO here in Europe the thins are not so easy as in the USA. I can't give alternative adresses in UK(Silver Print in London ?) for PMK , but did you try Lotus View Camera in Austria at www.lotusviewcamera.at ? They sell PMK according toHutchings, and it is almost the same thing to order products from them than from inside the UK. They have an excellent service and all the things I've ordered from them arrived here (Portugal ) in perfect conditions with very realistic delivery charges . I hope this can help you some way.

A strong second! Lotus is your place in Europe for lots of things, including Bergger paper and films, which they always have in stock (as opposed to other dealers!) I have used two batches of their PMK and get identical results to the PMK I order from the Photographers' Formulary in the US. Hope this helps, Regards, ;^D)

Anthony, Has I understand it PMK pyro is the same formula as Gordon Hutchings. It's in powder form and also available from Silverprint, London. However FilmPlus market this as a liquid pyro dev. as bath A and B and is available from Creative Monochrome Ltd. Tel.020 8686 3282, e-mail cremono@btclick.com. It costs about £11 and is superb, well worth getting. Regards,

Thanks for everyone's answers. I will give Creative Monochrome a ring Trevor. Incidentally which film do you use with pyro ? I was thinking of Delta400.

Anthony,

In the faster films you might try TriX Professional or HP5. From everything I've read HP5 really comes alive in PMK. I prefer FP$ or Bergger 200 myself.

Anthony, I use Delta 100 rated at 80 both in pyro and DiXactol developers. Delta 400 is a superb film and should give excellent results. Regards,
