Junkyard Wars

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Junkyard Wars : One Thread

I think you should let kids like me, a gearhead be able to build similar machines. I am relly eager to build a machine of some sort. So please could let 2 teams of kids go head to head in a junkyard. If you say yes could the contest be to build a powerpuller. Thank you

I have a team that is made up of moterheads that build machines all the time and we are made up of 13, 15, 15, 16 year old people and watch the show all the time and have seen every show.

I'm a 17 year old and am going to be an engineering major this fall. I love the show, just like all those other kids out there. But all you "youngins" have to understand that it looks easy to build that stuff, but its hard.....really hard. Try entering a school building competition to build even little things, like a bridge out of balsa wood or something. You'll find that it's hard to build even those things. I mean, these guys have been to college and have worked in similiar fields in construction and engineering for years. Basically all I'm saying is that is great to have a goal to be on the show, but you still need the education and experience to face the reality of the process.
