Quotable Quoted #60

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TB2K spinoff uncensored : One Thread

I HAVE RETURNED after a bit of an enforced furlough. the spousal unit offered me the choice of logging all the way out for 10 days or moving the computer to some other plug in some other domicile. I took the propper choice (no the snail mail address remains the same). And I am back with an attitude.

Having spent the last ten or so days in the real world, and having seen the incredible disconect going on from an other vantage point, AND having had a chance to REALLY LOOK at the callendar, I have made some changes in my attitude.

1) DON'T WASTE MY TIME I AIN'T GOTS A LOT!! This goes for EVERYONE as we haven't got a lot of time and it seems to be running faster and faster.

2) CONTRIBUTE TO THE DISCUSSION or get the F### OUT of the WAY!!! Name calling and other disruptive stuff WILL VANISH without a second thought. If you KNOW YOUR post didn't do any of that and in fact was in suport of the target and wonder why YOUR post went away TOO, it's because the OTHER post went away and parallelism needs to be kept (errr I use the term parallelism to mean thread integrity, so that the easily confused of us don't get moreso).

3) I AIN'T GONNA WASTE TIME and bandwith EXPLAININ' NUTTIN' out here on the forum. THAT detracts from the focus we ALL NEED TO HAVE.

4) THE TIME FOR DEBATE on WHETHER or NOT is PAST! I MAY be convinced otherwise but I am REAL tempted to remove this type of post. I am NOT a total brick head (just Italian-Dutch and a Taurus) so if you can convince me with a cogent argumment, I'll back off on this one. BUT it's got to be COGENT, and any reference to balance, access fairness etc will be rejected. TRY to give me a good reason to back off from this one, I would LOVE to but.... right now I don't see the percentage..

5) IF YOU WANT MY ATTENTION, it would be best to use my personal e-mail and NOT the general sysops address as I DO NOT HAVE TIME to check there often. MOST of you know what my address is but for those of you fortunate enough to have not crossed my path:

address is

rienzoo@en.com

YUP!! I have returned with an atitude.

Chuck

I think the people who run message boards have the right to moderate them as they see fit. If a person doesn't like that, they're free to start their own elsewhere.

Is this censorship?

I might be more sympathetic with you, Andy Ray, except for the fact that you've criticized OTFR several times this year for the way she moderates this forum. Most of us know she's been outstandingly fair despite having to deal with problem posters like LadyLogic and Cpr.

I'm sorry you were one of the five people banned from TB I last year. Maybe you should have contributed more to the discussions and spent less time continally questioning the motives of people there even before the five of you were banned.

Calling it the way :

Five people my ass. And most were banned because of ideas and not because of obnoxious behavior. On top of that, I have this policy; when someone lies to me, I am finished with them. So it goes with Chuck.

Best Wishes,,,

Legitimate questions as to board policy were not answered, publicly nor privately, anon. Hide behind your little mask and make believe game players such as yourself have an impact. Why bother?

Andy Ray refers to the five people banned as those whose names were displayed in red lettering.

Anon:

That was just so much smoke. Once again, 5 my ass. But then look at what they are left with. No hard feelings with Chuck, I just don't trust him anymore and, probably, never will.

Best wishes,,,,

People saw the rules everytime they posted a message there, Bingo.

Andy Ray politely expressed his opinion here, Bingo, and I'm only doing the same.

1. Andy Ray offers and responds to email and has chatted many a time in Bok's. Quite a pleasant fellow in real time conversation. I rarely agree with the guy's posts. He doesn't hide as some do.

2. Here's a couple of questions that weren't adequately answered, anon. I asked, Wolverine asked, Flint asked, Decker asked - time and time again:

"Why were these policies so obviously selectively enforced?"

I make reference not to spammers, but to viscious doomer attack dogs. INVAR and Andy, amongst others, gave us wonderful examples of how not to treat fellow human beings. Thousands of posts worth of putrid personal attacks, anon.

Read the policy list again, anon. More importantly, think back to the Spring and Summer of last year on TB2000. The wolfpack roamed free, unleashed, and in some cases joined by moderators. Questions I'd love to have answered, publicly or privately, if only because I cannot understand how such rudeness could be nurtured by people I took to be decent & compassionate - day after day.

I was fooled and I would like to know where my judgement went astray.

Rich

Yes, anon, you have expressed your opinion politely. I thank you for that.

-- Bingo1 (howe9@shentel.net), November 24, 2000.

Dear Properly-Ashamed Doomer,

Are you stating that questioning the motives of the moderator is a privilege reserved for some and denied others? Perhaps you were wise to cower behind an alias...

Andy Ray

What's this deal with the sign off *best wishes,,,,* signature?

Whether it follows after a praise or prick, it's always the same, "best wishes,,,,"

This is a studied insult.

And the e-mail address is phony because my attempts to confirm it have always been bounced back.

Best wishes,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Yep, dinosaur extinct:

If you had been around here as long as I have, you would know. I was getting too much spam. In August of this year when I left for Africa, I cancelled that name. I announced it here and have repeated it and the reasons. I still post using it since I have been posting with that name since the first site started. Note: none of the spam came from people on this site; it came from posting on another site. Remember, I was here before Diane. I am one of the ol'dns.

Best Wishes,,,,

I am one of the old BCers too. (Before Censorship)

Hell, back in the good old days you might get a total of ten posts per day. Doomers like me could actually disagree with the Pauls (Newhardt and Davis) and Buddy DC and still remail civil. But slowly the shitheads moved in, and things got loud, and then went to hell.
