Unclaimed Property

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

I was poking around on the net the other day and came across this web site NAUPA.com it is a national clearinghouse for unclaimed money from old bank accounts or insurance settlements or whatever. I found 79 dollars due my husband from 12 years ago. Also 400 dollars for my inlaws. None for me but thats o.k. Anyway, just wanted to pass this along, happy hunting! Oh and by the way it is free.

They has for too much information in order to give you "free" information. For what purpose?

A television news show did a report on unclaimed property, and in the report it was said that 1 out of 4 have unclaimed property. I've been checking these sites on occasion for several years now and have found property for a lot of folk that I know.

I believe the largest claim here is Kansas has been over $80,000. Good luck everyone.

Charles, I believe the purpose is to resolve the property. Go to the site and check it out ifin you don't believe me.

Each state should also have an unclaimed property section. Look under the Dept. of Revenue for your state. I guess companies that owe you a refund check or other money send it to them for safekeeping.

I found out I had $500 from company retirement from an old job. It was a nice surprise.

Hey thanks for the info- it's neat to hear that you've found money for other people- at least it proves it works! Sort of like a treasure hunt without getting out in the cold any more than necessary!

Pretty cool thing, but it looked like it only had a very limited number of states in there. No matter whose name I typed in, the results were only for FL, TX, PA, CA & FL . . . ? Oh well - thanks for the FYI, anyway. ;)
