We had a good day. Youngest daughter and I went to middle daughter's home, which she shares with two other ladies from our church, and there were a couple of other church families there. We shared before the meal some of the things we are thankful for. Ate too much, of course! But it was all so good! Then afterwards different ones took turns playing their instruments while we sang hymns -- it was a lovely afternoon! The one husband who was there started to doze off in the recliner while we were still singing, and when we woke him up he said it was just like going to heaven! LOL!!! We don't sing *that* well!! Though the girls sure sound pretty when they all get together and sing. Anyway, I hope you all had as nice a time as we did, and kept in mind the true meaning of the day, being thankful to God for all the blessings He's given us.

It was really weird this year. My in-laws have two tables in the basement and people are usually crowded around it. There were only six of us this year. Everyone went someplace else. It didn't seem like Thanksgiving until later when more people stopped in.

45 of us got together at Cousin Bill's house this year (Legion Hall was booked already). Could have fed another 45 at least with the chow we all carried in! I wore sweats in spite of Sis's obvious disgust - sure was glad that I did! Napped in the car on the way to Mama Gano's (in-laws), but declined to eat again there. I have to work the Christmas holidays, but I am expecting the whole crew out here for our annual New Year's Day Corned Beef and Cabbage and Black Eye Peas dinner. Now I'm trying to decide which recipe to enclose in my Christmas cards this year - need to get it printed up and get with it! I had planned to avoid the "day after" shopping rush, but have to take Sis her lunch at the store where she works, so will have to brave the crowds a bit anyway - wish me luck!!

Just the two of us, thankfully chowing down on the Herb-Crusted Tofu I picked up at the health-food/grocery. Also had cranberry sauce (canned whole berry spiced up with the juice of an orange section, orange peel strips, a medallion of ginger, and a handful of pecan pieces), rice pilaf stuffing with a dried cherries & berries mix and nuts, green beans almondine (saw it on Martha Stewart and got a craving!), mashed potatoes and herby veggie gravy, pear chutney (the pears I bought on the retirement rack needed something done with them) and a nice tossed salad topped with romano and cranberry vinegrette (mad up by vinegrette-ing some of the cranberry sauce!). Biscuits filled out around the edges and of course there was pie - pecan and pumpkin, along with a nice fruity white wine. I can never get the hang of cooking for two, so we shall eat very well for the next week or so! If I get anymore thankful about my blessings, I'll sicken my co-workers with happiness! Here's hoping that everyone can be as happy as I am.

I spent part of thanks giving rushing my old cat to the emergency vet. I gave the cats some giblets and instead of chewing my old cat tried to swallow it whole. A 15 minute ride latter with one teenage daughter and 5 year old son and choking cat, we got to hospital and they got it out.K C has used up another of her 9 lifes! I love her though and am glad she is still here [ and i got to pratice driving like a teenager again!]. From now on meat Is cute real small though!
