Fla. Court Rejects Democrat Bid for Recount

LINK

TALLAHASEE, Fla. (Reuters) - The Florida Supreme Court on Thursday rejected a bid by the campaign of Democrat Al Gore to force Miami-Dade County to recount votes from the Nov. 7 presidential election by hand, a major blow to the vice president's hopes to win the White House.

Court spokesman Craig Waters said in a statement: ``The writ is denied without prejudice... No motion for rehearing will be allowed.''

Waters said all seven judges of the court had signed the order rejecting the petition from Gore's campaign.

What's next in the Gore plan? Concession?

The democrats sent the fax's to the homes of the judges on Thanksgiving day, whilst these people were trying to spend time with family. That would certainly piss me off.

No problem for Gore since the two counties still working on the recount are likely to pull the numbers he needs. Even so, both Gore and Bush plan on *contesting* the certified votes on Monday so the legal soap opera will still be playing in prime-time for awhile to come.
