Gore is going to end up winning. Think it's not going to start a civil war? Keep your ears and eyes open.

(and we thought y2k was going to be bad..!)

and you will be the first coward to watch this war from your couch- drinking bud and eating munchos. What a waste.

Well, my take on this is that it'll help Bush. There's no way all the ballots will be handcounted by Sunday. It's all or nothing for certification...

Do not underestimate the people of Florida. With this ruling, they will work 24 hours a day to get it done, INCLUDING dimpled chads which of course are accepted in Texas.

I am sure the judges ruling states that every possible effort should be made to determine voter intent.

Heck, I'd gladly count pieces of paper during Thanksgiving if they'd pay me something. It'd sure beat sitting around home and listening to the relatives fight over their stupid football games. It'd also get me out of cleaning the kitchen! Where's the sign up sheet? I can swallow chads as well as anyone! I was the paste-eating champion in my 1st grade class!

Speak for yourself, k.

LOL, Future Shock...I'm sure you are correct in assuming many will do just that. I have a Don't Tread on Me flag flying from my house, and I always have...I busted my butt for my party...I bust my butt for my organizations...and I will bust my butt at the side of my fellow patriots if the call goes out. (no busted butt jokes please! ;-)

Does this mean that someone actually went through the entire 40+ page document? The T.V. news simply said that the recounts MUST be included and they must end by the end of day on the 26th [if the office is open] or on the 27th [if the office is not.] I haven't heard any news yet on dimples.

Why are all the Gore spin-doctors crying about the Sunday deadline? Why are they preparing to appeal if the deadline is missed? Ms. harris will have her doors open for business on Sunday at 5:00pm est. Then what will the hero of the Democratic Party do? Stay tuned...

I am not crying about the Sunday deadline-maybe they are on TV; but I have read all 43 pages and it is VERY clear that each county canvassing board is charged with determining the voter intent when the team of counters is unsure. There is language in the decision which directly addresses a ballot in which the stylus did not go all the way through-that this should not disenfranchise that voter because of faulty paper or any other mechanical reason that the stylus did not punch through the ballot.

So yes, in my not so humble opinion, dimpled chads and pregnant chads WILL be counted. If you want to see the opinion go to cnn.com and they have it attached through FindLaw. I could not get into the Florida supreme court site.

Thanks, FS.

I was kindof hoping Bush would win this one, because I feel the whole thing has already tainted the office of the Presidency this term, but...

just as an aside, I read something the other day about a chad not being able to be punched through completely because the chad box hadn't been emptied. Of course the poll people had been instructed to empty the chad box regularly, but during periods of high voter turnout, etc., they may have forgotten.

ms. harris=you goofed! now bush sr.[dad] is mad--jr. is sad--alG. IS GLAD all because of your dissing a pregnant chad!!

dimples are allowed--it matters not who wins--the lobbyist's

hide there sins--the court upheld our right's-but it,s not over

until the janitor empty's his vaccum bagy-and retrieves the missing chads--including ballots that are saggy!!

hand count's not excluded---all should be included----so i think we,ve

learned a lesson--GOD has sent a blessin-=A CHAD AIN,T ALL BAD!!

To clarify, the language in the decision regarding the stylus is qouted from the Illinois Supreme Court, so it does not implicitly give direction on how to determine voter intent with pregnant or dimpled chads. Had the Florida Supreme Court given implicit instructions, it would have crossed boundries with the legislature and they would have, in effect, rewritten the law.

Instead, they reiterated Florida law which IS clear in that the county canvassing boards have final authority to determine voter intent.
