The review that turned into a devotional....! (religious-kind of....

I was attempting to write a review of some friends music....she's in a very tribal sort of Celtic band called "Madison Greene"....my writing quickly turned into a devotional of sorts; embracing what Iconsider "organic Christianity". :) Hope ya'll like it!!!

"Listening to Madison Greene...I love such pure, unbridled music. It is earthy, organic and unhomogenized. I think such strong preferences on my part reflect who I am as well, and the virtues in which my spirit most resonates. The reason I believe that I don't mesh with organized religion is because I am "organic" as well in my spiritual make-up. I do not believe in "man-made acts of God"; such as hollow forms of worship, or resting in traditions rather than the union that the traditions should lead one to. I believe such kills the Spirit...(John 4:24, John 3:8). Likewise I believe worship should be a pure and unbridled expression of our passion before the Lord.

When milk is homogenized; it goes through a process called pasteurization where it is changed from its natural state unto something "safe" and palpalable for the masses. Any microorganisms and little beasties are destroyed, rendering the product "safe". I DON'T WANT TO BE A SAFE, HOMOGENIZED CHRISTIAN. I want to be on God's cutting edge, laying down my life, loving dangerously, and dying daily for the gospel's sake. Not counting my life as my own, but enslaved--willingly--to the Crucified One.

And as for those "little beasties?" I don't mind a little earthiness...neither did Jesus, as He was incarnated as the Son of man as well as being the very Son of God. Born in a stable, raised as a carpenter's

son, ministering to the fishermen, harlots and publicans--no; I don't think a few "beasties" would offend Him either!!! (To be followed up with the reading of the 7th chapter of Mark)

Thank you Beth, this is the type of Christianity I can relate to, and understand. Annie in SE OH.

Thanks Beth!! You summed up how I feel about it very well. I think that Christians get worried about things being "paganized" by having an affinty for nature and the natural progressions of life. However, God designed it and I don't see how singing 18th century hymns all the time is a living kind of worship.
