THE WILL OF THE PEOPLE?

Why does Gore claim to have won the popular vote. According to the latest tallies I have found (released at 6 pm EST Friday the 17th), Gore leads by 272,991 votes out of over 100,000,000 votes cast. This is well less than 1/2 of one percent. In many states this would grounds for an automatic recount.

Gore seems to want cast doubt on the Florida vote (which has been legally recounted) yet at the same time claim the popular vote for his own and not put it under the microscope of scrutiny. Or in other words He Seems To Want It Both Ways.

How many absentee ballots are still uncounted?

Well, Gore *DID* win the popular vote, but like you say, by a very small margain. He certainly can't claim The Will of the People. He could only say "I have the Will of HALF the people"....

The very fact that he keeps reciting that "will of the people" rhetoric drives me insane on a daily basis...

I keep thinking there's at least 20 heartlanders out there who are figureing out ways right now to make sure if he wins, he won't last a week amongst the living. In fact, I'll go so far as to lay odds on how long Gore can go as President without an assassination attempt. I'd say his chances of makign the whole 4 years = 10% Chances of his making 3 years = 15% Chances of his making 2 years = 15% Chances of his making 1 year = 50% Chances of making it a week past inauguration = 10%

He is definately going to be in danger at all times..

(PS..before you go thinking this is some kind of threat, OR..that I would agree with anyone who would want to blow of Al's head, It isn't..and I wouldn't...Just saying I think there are a lot of people who would and will)

Unfortunately I think whoever wins will have this problem. Maybe we should offer Strom Thurmond up as the sacrificial lamb. Nobody would shoot at a 100 year old would they?
