Cokin P holder for Pentax 55-100MM lens; what are my options

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Pentax 67 SLR : One Thread

Help! I have a Pentax 55-100mm lens (Pentax 67II body). I'm trying to use the same Singh-Ray ND grads that goes with Cokin P holder. Problem is: Cokin P holder goes up to 82mm thread only; the 55-100mm has a 95mm thread. I have not tried this, but my assumption is that the Singh-Ray filters should be big enough for this lens without causing vignetting. It's just these darn holders that I'm having troubled with. Is there such a holder or some kind of adapter to solve this problem? Please advise!

I think you'll need to buy the latest Cokin adapter which is larger than their long established "P" holders. Another alternative is the larger holders made by Lee. Singh-Ray also makes ND grads in these larger sizes. Last time I checked they were $150.00 each.

Why don't you just use your hands? IF you have the wooden handle your could buy a product called the "Flare Buster. Which is nothing more than a piece of flexible wire. One end fits into a flash hotshoe and the other end has a small clamp to hold gobos and filters. Costs about $20, or you could make one for about $2 by going to your local hardware store.

There is no commercially made adapter to solve your problem.

I have found the Flare Buster to be a complete solution to my flare problems. It not only is a very professional product, it easily fits in my camera bag and has become a necessity to my shooting.
