We met some Countrysiders

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

A friend who goes to the auctions knew we wanted an Alpine buck. He was asked by some new people on his road if he would take a couple of their goats to the auction when he went Saturday, one was an Alpine buck. So he gave them our number, and they called Friday nite. After talking to him for several minutes, something sounded familiar, and I asked, "Do you get Countryside Magazine?" He hollered to his wife, and told her what I had asked. They have been Countrysiders for 10 years!

We went over yesterday (very close) and met Russ and Monica and saw our new Registered Alpine buck! He is the prettiest boy you ever saw. All Black, with white hind end with black spots. Like an Appaloosa. We talked and talked. They also have 2 dairy cows who are like pets. They are not online, but she was very interested in the forum. Have you all met any Countrysiders just "out of the blue"?

A couple of years ago I went with a neighbor to a consignment auction in the Mennonite community south of her. When the guy checking in stuff heard my name he said, "Oh, I know you. You write for Countryside." Later that day we were standing by the livestock pens and a couple came up. I introduced myself and they said, "Oh, ..." My neighbor gave on of those looks.

I carry a copy of Countryside with me on the dash of our truck, its amazing how many people in our area read it. I have met 14 other Countrysiders in our area. It would be nice if they offered advertising plates or bumper stickers. Maybe Countryside flags like those season flags.

I have said this before but will run it again. My wife and I met through countryside magazine eight and a half years ago. At the time I lived in western NY. many of my friends subscribed to CS I have taken the magazine for over 20 years, been on line here for a 18 months +/-.

I was bidding on a huge box of CS, BWH, MEN, etc. magazines at a estate/junk auction, I expected to get the whole lot for less than 5 bucks-when another bidder chided in! How dare him! He won the box for 10, but we ended up splitting the cost and sharing the box. In a few weeks I'll give him a call and we'll 'switch' piles. Got a great deal, and made a new friend! Like the bumper sticker idea, how about: "I COUNTRYSIDE"

I've met several countrysiders. One of my good friends is the person that introduced me to the mag years ago! Love the bumper sticker idea. Does Steve or anyone else from the mag ever answer any questions on the forum? I've only seen 1 or 2. Also is JD still around? I kinda lost track, after subscribing for several years I had to give it up for finacial reasons, now I'm back and still getting used to the changes. Barb

It sure would be nice to know if they will put out a bumper sticker for Countryside & Small Stock Journal.

The deadline for the Jan/Feb issue is this week so we are very very busy right now.We do have tee shirts with the Countryside logo on them. You can see Dave modeling one on page 77 of the Nov/Dec issue. They come in blue or white I don't have time to check on how many we have on hand right now. If you are interested email me and after the deadline I will let you know what sizes and colors we have. The price is $12

For you people that want bumper stickers design one and send it in maybe we can have a contest. I have to get back to work you know how anxious some folks get when they have to wait for their magazine.

I make it a rule to never put stickers on my car, but a Countryside sticker, I'll go for that.
