B) 2000 Reno Gazette-Journal Staff reports November 11th, 2000

More than 2,000 Sparks residents spent the early morning hours without electricity Friday after an adapter blew in the northeast area of the town, Sierra Pacific Power Co. officials said.

The power went out about 3:20 a.m. for 2,300 power company customers in the area of Vista Boulevard and Los Altos Parkway, spokesman Bob Sagan said.

Crews restored power to 1,100 people on the west side of Vista Bouelvard by 6:10 a.m., Sagan said. The remaining 1,200 customers had power by 9:10 a.m.

An adapter on a power switch blew up causing the outage. It did not cause a fire or any other damage, Sagan said. Officials did not what caused the problem.
