Pre-mix sweet cure for meet

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

I am looking for a sweet cure for meet that is a pre-mix. (in other words, I do not need to mix any ingredients, just use the pre-made seasoning). We used to have some that my grandparents had, but now we have used it all up and do not know where to find any more. It would be used to cure meat and the result would taste almost identical to that which you would buy of cured meat at your local grocery. The mix we used to have was 10 years old and it does not spoil over time. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Any suggestions as to where I might be able to get some of this mix? Or even better yet, is there a name for this mix? Any help would be appreciated.

David: In this part of the country (NE TN), you can buy the mix in any grocery or feed store. It's Morton (as in salt) Sugar Cure. Morton Salt Co., 100 N. Riverside Plaza, Chicago, IL 60606. You can get smoke-flavor or not. Great stuff, easy. You can possibly call them to find a source near you.
