Not a Landscape.......

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Nature Photography Image Critique : One Thread

There have been very few postings of non landscape subjects recently, so to redress the balance I shall post a few insect photos taken this summer over the next few weeks! Todays subject is a male Ruddy Darter, taken with Pentax Z1, Pentax 100mm F2.8 Macro, exposure -aperture priority mode, multi segment metering, probably F8 or f12, Fuji 100ASA print film rated at 200 ASA, scanned on a basic UMIX flatbed scanner.

The Darter depresses its wings at rest hence the are lost somewhat, I suppose that a burst of fill in flash may have heightened/exagerated them??

Actually, I think the wings get lost in the branch, which is more annoying to me. I think if you could have taken it from a slightly higher angle, it might have been better (esp. with a bit of flash). Or, a brighter background would help, too.

I really like the detail and getting the whole Darter in focus. Good job.
