That had to be one of the most stressfull few hours in my life just then. I'm glad Bush seems to have won, but I'm sad. I'm sad for our country...for a nation divided. It was so close, so close,..and the Nader factor spoke volumns. The popular vote went to Bush, but barely.

Where does this leave us? I hope Bush, whom I have put a great deal of trust in, will address this issue. I would hate for him not to acknowledge 50% of America. IT has to be done. I think we'd all be happier if Bush could find a middle ground...to appease half a country that didn't vote for him. If he just jumps gung-ho into all his plans now...it just wouldn't be right. I don't know.

does it make it better if only 40% of the electorate gets screwed? Or 60% when Clinton won with only 37% of the popular vote? This is the reality of democracy. The minority gets the shaft, even if it's only a 1% difference.

huh? (no more middle class..whatever your name is)...that makes no sense whatsoever. Bush is FOR the middle class. Gore was the champion of the poor...he's the one who wants MORE programs for the poor paid for BY the middle class.

My hoping G.W. addresses it doesn't mean I thought Gore would have. If he was anything like Clinton, I highly doubt it.

Last night,(or early this morning, I guess) hmmm, before I went to bed, I was SO annoyed that the popular vote doesn't pick the president. Even with Bush elected (at that point) I felt the process didn't seem fair. I guess under that same premise, Gore should be the president right now. I wouldn't have liked it the other way, so I shouldn't like it this way either. Electoral college needs to be revamped...let's face it.

My biggest problem was that different sections of the country have different wants and needs. That's why we need to leave decisions to states, instead of Washington, as much as possible. This was what Bush was about...states and individuals..and what Gore wasn't about. Gore and Clinton's Washington wanted to make so much National legislation, it's so invasive to states rights..I'm happy with my choice still. Because that map...who won what state, speaks volumes about who needs what where. States need to keep their individual rights. (sorry..i'm tired..)

Whoever is President should be humble and realize that he has NO mandate. I don't mean he should be weak---he should be true to his own values but he should also be aware that he holds office by a fluke. He should make maximum effort to reachout, to LEAD, to be the President for everyone. He has no margin for error. Incombency will be little advantage in four years.
