Know any pets with really good names?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TB2K spinoff uncensored : One Thread

The world has millions, if not billions of pets. Most of them have names. Know any good ones?

(P.S. I just felt like starting a thread with no mention of politics.)

I used to have a hamster named Spiro. (OK. OK. Maybe this did hint at politics!)

Once knew a dog named Bitch. (A black lab mix. Danged smart dog, too.)

My wife's friend has a german shepard named "Loki". Have no idea what it means, but it IS different.

I have a kitty named Minnie Pearl.

My daughters once put a dolls straw hat on her with the price tag hanging from it. What a riot!

I used to have a cat named Nusua (I think), it's Danish for cat. I also had two cats one named Bud, the other Lite (that one I can't explain since I don't like beer) Now I have a dog named Jake and a cat, Katie.

Thanks for the break from politics but it will be over soon!

Loki is the Norse God of mischief; often very nasty and malicious mischief.

A friend used to have a dog named Catalina, after the island off the coast of California.

It was amusing to hear her go out in her back yard and yell "Here Cat, come here Cat..."

That's like the Stephen Wright joke where he decided to mess with his dog's head, so he named him Stay.

"C'mere, Stay. C'mere, Stay."

We have a black and brown beagle named Snickers. With all the election debate around here maybe someone will name their pet Shrub!

Thanks for the break on the election stuff.

Thought my brother and his wife had a cute name for their little mut- a Chihuahua, called him Kee-Chee. To Hungarians (which we are), this was real cute, as "kee-chee" (I'm spelling it phonetically) is the Hungarian word for small, or tiny.

Had a cat named Daisy; a dog named Chugs, and a guinea pig named Pop Corn, and now, a cat named Kiddie (my 6 year old son's naming).

We had a cat named Ritty Rat.

-- Uncle Deedah (unkeed@yahoo.com), November 06, 2000.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot about Rex, he was a cat too.

Thread posted in May requesting dog naming help. There are some great names to be found here...

By the way, I've been on vacation for the last week or so and I'm trying to play "catch-up" with the forum. Perhaps someone can be kind enough to save me some hours of digging through the archives. Tell me... have there been any NON-political posts put up since I've been gone? If so, anybody got a link? Thanks in advance.

Had a dog named Ashtray. She was found in Chapel Hill, NC on the ash pile of a burned-out house - with a broken rear right leg. Great, great dog she was.

There's Bingo Jr., who's with me now. Also Frank, named for Frank Zappa.

And finally PC - Pussy Cat.

I have two Chows, one named Szechuan and one named Tsing Tao.

Know some people who named their baby "Alfalfa." Their last name was "Field."

-- oh, yeah? (howaboutb@by.names), November 06, 2000.

My cat is named Scout. She's named after the little girl in To Kill a Mockingbird, my favorite book.

I have always wanted to have two dalmations, a male and a female. I would name them Spot and Dot.

I love a good pet name.

-- semper paratus (nice@thread.brian), November 06, 2000.

Oh, yeah. And I once had a pregnant cat who gave birth to only one kitten. That was the entire litter. It's rare, but it happens. I kept the kitten, and named him Solo.

*Warning* - {Slightly political tone ahead}... I had a bowlful of guppies who jumped out of their habitat & committed suicide the night Reagan accepted the nomination for President { so, - I was changing the water & they were sitting on top of the dishwasher that my mother happened to run that night - the significance of the act was not lost on me!}.

As a kid I had a pear-shaped guinea pig named Bartlett.

My better half had a dog whose named sounded like Diogi - 'cept it was spelled D.O.G.

One cat is named dimsuckle. The other four have really odd names.

Best wishes,,,,

We have two dogs, Julie and Pansy. Nine cats, best left unnamed except for my son's cat, Axl. Yes. Of Axl Rose fame.

Hey CD,

How is your puppy doing? What did you finally name it?

-- Debra (Thisis@it.com), November 06, 2000.

The cats are Theta and Scipio. The iguana is Ivan the Terrible from when he used to bite.

dandelion

-- dandelion (golden@pleurisy.plant), November 06, 2000.

Hi Debra,

Puppy's doing well, thanks. Ended up naming her "Beta". (I followed your lead. Similar to your dog's moniker, it's a West African tribal name, however this one means "very high maintenance".) I'm currently debating whether or not to buy her a brother. Whaddyathink? Yes? No?

Had a Rat named Radical.

He lived 5 and one half years.

My 6 year old daughter LOVED him.

He weighted 3lbs. That is BIG for a rat, and long lived.

I had to close down my store one day to strangle him to death.

"EVERYONE OUT", I said," I am going home to kill my daughters pet".

I said this in the childrens store that I owned.

The rat had a heart condition I had been treating for 3 wks.

(Least anyone ask, a caring vet, a crying child, and a syringe of heart med can do wonders)

I killed it because it was it's (his) time, and my daughter would not cry as hard if I had left it to suffer.

Pets are not Kids!

Their tears are your old folks home.
