Yeast (type)

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Bread.com FAQ : One Thread

Years ago some people used what they called "cake yeast" to make yeast rolls. Is this cake yeast still available and or where can it be bought? If not what is the substitute yeast used today?

Alden, cake yeast is still available through restaurant suppliers, as well as pellets of yeast. The most common, though, is the dry yeast, which is found in the baking aisle of most grocery stores in packets of 3 or in a jar.
