Does Tri-X, either the Sheet film or roll film version, do well in Pyro development such as PMK?

I have just started using this combination. In fact it is the pairing recommended by Gordon Hutchings, who developed the PMK formula. I have not had great success, but I am still looking for the correct time/speed combination.

In the November 99 issue of Photo Technique Mag, Carl Weese described several films and their staining with PMK and ABC+. For Tri-X, he recommended a speed of 160-200 and with PMK 10-12 minutes at 75 degrees. ABC+ in a rotary processor was 7-8 minutes at 70 degrees.

Mr. Weese stated, "The film delivers a superb combination of fine detail, close value separation and smoothness of tone in the highlights."

Hope this helps

I rate Tri-X roll film at 260 and develop for 15 minutes in PMK at 70 degrees.

TXP (sheet and 120) is EI:320. TX (35mm) is EI:250. Develop both of these films in PMK for 14 minutes @68F. Have you tried HP-5+?? This is a much better film. Ruler flat HD curve. True speed of 400. Develop HP-5+ for 14 1/2 minutes @ 68F.
