Would like to know when the running boards were removed, when the removal started and what the date was for final removal. Thank you Robert

If memory serves correctly, the running boards were mandated to be removed, and boxcar side ladders cut to half-height, by the end of 1969, although that may not be the exact date.

Thats true, but the railroads were not able to do this by the date for completion. So the time limit was extended to '84.
