greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

For the last few days we have been very tense around here, i have been having some problems w/ one of my breasts and we really thought it was cancer. IT'S NOT! all the tests came back negative and so did the mamogram!!!!I am 33 and when my doctor wanted to run the tests i thought i was doomed, i am so glad i went, now i can relax and really enjoy this weekend.

Renee, I'm so happy and relieved for you!!! I went through the same type scare 1 1/2 years ago, was one of the worst fears in my life! Those days inbetween the tests and mammogram, and the diagnosis, were the longest ever. Good news is great to share, there is so much bad news,...... Annie in SE OH.

Renee, I am so glad to hear everything is GOOD! I went to have a mamogram Oct.30th and was told They need a different view and maybe an ultra sound. ( I am going Wednwsday ) Found some sort of nodule. Did they say that to you? Or maybe something else? I turned 39 last month. This was my first mamogram.

I am glad that God gave you good news but be assured that if the news had not been good He would have been with you. In regards to extra views this is not that uncomman. You should care enough to go and get them in a timely mannor but should not be overly concerned. This is actually good as it shows that whoever is reading your exam is really looking closely at it. Remember too that it is important to continue with the schedule that you and your health care provider decide on. Breast CA if found early is very treatable but that is not always the case when it is found in an advanced state. gail

I had a scare like that about 7 months ago, I went to the back doctor and he hinted that the pain I was having sounded like his friends pain right before the guy died of pancriatic cancer.Told me I should get it checked, two weeks later [ and a cat scan ]I was cleared . Gave me the scare of my life! Two months ago i found out i have the easly cured kind of skin cancer and it was a walk in the park after the other. Sure makes you feel for the ones that it dosnt work out for.Glad it worked out well for you, take care.

Hi,

As a massage therapist (one of my former careers), I was trained to do manual lymphatic drainage. When applied to the area around the breast and underarm area, this therapy is reported to be very helpful in keeping these areas in top health. You can easily do it for yourself, but perhaps the best way to get started is to find a therapist trained in the technique and have one session with them. I have not seen alot of scientific data to prove the benefits, but my patients who needed the therapy, especially those with problems with fibroids, really felt it did them a lot of good.

This is encouraging! I'm happy for you Renee, that the waiting is over, and happy for your relief. I've been experiencing a great deal of tenderness in my armpits lately, and while a physical exam revealed nothing, I am scheduled for a mammogram in a week. Like a lot of you mentioned, waiting is the hardest part.

Renee,

I'm so happy for you. That is good news! This was a lot better thread than our leg-shaving tangent we got on. Enjoy the great news! Wanda
